13 Vehicles Including School Van Involved In Fatal US Rt 30 Crash: York Officials (Update)

A serious crash involving 13 vehicles — including a school van — left one person dead, "numerous people" were injured, and Route 30 in York County was closed in York County for hours on Tuesday morning, authorities explained in an updated release.

The crash fatality happened at the scene as Coroner Pam Gay detailed in a release the following day. The"older adult male front seat passenger" who was seatbelted in a 2008 black Toyota Yaris suffered injuries and was pronounced dead at 9:05 a.m. 

"The driver of the Yaris was transported from the scene to Wellspan York Hospital with critical injuries," Gay said, adding, "This office and West Manchester Twp. Police are in the process of confirming the identification of the two Yaris occupants. Once identified, next of kin will be notified."

His cause and manner of death are also pending the results of his autopsy which was performed at Lehigh Valley Hospital on Wednesday morning.

The York County Department of Emergency Services's Ted Czech who sent Daily Voice the following statement:

"It’s a multi-vehicle crash with at least eight injuries [...] A school van, not sure which school district, was also involved, although neither the driver nor any of the students on board were injured. The coroner has been called to the scene."

The police aren't release many more details as, "the investigation is still in its early stages and officers are still reconstructing the crash to establish the chain of events."
